Abstract:
The radial gates have been widely used in the hydraulic structures for their merits such as low lifting force, needless to have gate slot and convenient operation. However, due to unreasonable structural design, arrangement or operation, structural failure and strong vibration of the gates often occur in the operation process, which has impacts on the safety operation of the gate structure, especially for the large radial gate with high water head and partial opening. Through hydraulic experiments, three-dimension finite element analysis and flow-induced vibration tests, studies of the hydraulic characteristics, static and dynamic characteristics, dynamic stability and flow-induced vibration characteristics of high pressure radial gates have been carried out to reveal the dynamic stability properties and strong resonance phenomenon of the gate structure. Aiming at the existing problems of high stress and large deformation, the authors also puts forward the structure optimization solution to increase the strength and stiffness of the gate structure, so as ensure the safety operation of the gate.
